As the leader of local governments in the Midlands region, the City of Columbia has a significant interest in the actions of the South Carolina state government. The most immediate and consequential actions are those taken by the state legislature during its annual legislative sessions. The City of Columbia makes the most of its resources, including the time of city staff and Council members, to monitor state level activity on a variety of issues on an ongoing basis and ensure that the interests of our citizens are maintained and protected.
